چکیده

2014 We study the behaviour of piezoelectricity in highly heterogeneous media. The piezoelectric effect introduces a coupling between electrical and mechanical properties, which have separately different scaling behaviours. Its study therefore constitutes a priori an interesting question. This problem is also suggested by the recent development of low-density, porous piezoelectric ceramics which are used, for example, as acoustic transducers. We consider a piezoelectric medium of dielectric constant 03B5r plunged into a medium of dielectric constant unity or close to unity and large or infinite compliance. Two interesting cases are examined : a) 03B5r ~ 1 and b) 03B5r ~ 1. In both cases, we find that the spatial average of the piezoelectric coefficient is non-critical even if the mechanical (in cases a) and b)) or electrical behaviours (in case a)) do exhibit their usual critical behaviours near the percolation threshold. However, we predict the existence of critical fluctuations of the polarization of the piezoelectric backbone. Furthermore, J. Phys. THE SCALING LAW FOR THE DISCRETE KINETIC GROWTH PERCOLATION MODEL

The Scaling Law for the Discrete Kinetic Growth Percolation Model The critical exponent of the total number of finite clusters α is calculated directly without using scaling hypothesis both below and above the percolation threshold pc based on a kinetic growth percolation model in two and three dimensions. Simultaneously, we can calculate other critical exponents β and γ, and show that the scal...

The downshift of the electrical percolation threshold in polyisoprene-nanostructured carbon composites

Riga Technical University, Institute of Technical Physics, Azenes Str. 14-322, LV-1007 Riga, Latvia E-mail: [email protected] In our previous research, the polyisoprene-nanostructured carbon composite (PNCC) has been approved as a promising material to be used as a low-pressure sensor. The main advantage of PNCC is its hyperelastic flexibility as compared with conventional piezo-ceramic pr...

Subcritical U-bootstrap Percolation Models Have Non-trivial Phase Transitions

We prove that there exist natural generalizations of the classical bootstrap percolation model on Z that have non-trivial critical probabilities, and moreover we characterize all homogeneous, local, monotone models with this property. Van Enter [28] (in the case d = r = 2) and Schonmann [25] (for all d > r > 2) proved that r-neighbour bootstrap percolation models have trivial critical probabili...

Critical Points of Three–dimensional Bootstrap Percolation–like Cellular Automata

This paper deals with the critical point of three-dimensional bootstrap percolation-like cellular automata. Some general sufficient or necessary conditions for pc = 0 are obtained. In the case of pc > 0, some explicit upper and lower bounds are provided in terms of the critical value of oriented site percolation.

Exceptional Planes of Percolation

Consider the standard continuous percolation in R 4 , and choose the parameters so that the induced percolation on a xed two dimensional linear subspace is critical. Although two dimensional critical percolation dies, we show that there are exceptional two dimensional linear subspaces, in which percolation occurs.
